Pros excellent medical coverage. Cons some long hours to cover shifts. Overall I learned a lot because I was thrusted into different departments to assist due to staffing issues and all employees being a correctional worker for first. So you will definitely be on the housing unit regardless of your job. I appreciated my time working in the prison, the lessons actually prepared me for life. Unfortunately, the greater issues working there were NOT the inmates but the staff.
Sidenote, There are some amazing line staff, a lot of the supervisors are unqualified though and it shows in their leadership. The went through about 4 Wardens in the course of 5 years.
