The rest of my coworkers were fantastic and even though I left, they still check in on me and we go to lunch when I'm around. I loved my job but its a job made for single men, not a wife and mom like me. Taking off work for my kid being sick was hard, the pay didn't make it worth the stress and abuse the bad manager caused me. I stayed for as long as I did hoping he would move on to another store because all he did was complain about ours and how much he wanted to leave.
Will always love the company and hope to work for them again one day. I think I just had a bad store to start out in. Pros Fun enviorment, cool customers, great co workers. Cons No breaks, high expectations for low pay, horrible managers some of them.
Goals, timelines and focus all change at the drop of a hat. The need to wear multiple hats in a position is common, Running a skeleton crew and underpaying associates is common place.
Overall sense of frustration when working here. There is a constant demand from the field staff and a push to satisfy the field, and they are overcompensated at the same time. Very biased pay structure throughout the company with little reward to support the field staff and their inflated pay. Pros Great benefits. Cons hours, deficient pay. Good job for starters drivers to get experience.
Work harder and get rewarded for it. Bonuses every week for hitting minimums. Get paid percentage so based off performance. Worth it! This position was rough for me during my 1st month because they teach you a lot, perform a lot of heavy lifting, and the hours.
After two months and lumber camp, this job changed for me. I feel more confident in my role and have better responsibility in the office. If you do your job and do not quit, the job advancements are endless coordinator, co-manager, team headquarters, sales, etc. This job is great after college! Also, the people I work with are truly amazing, and I love the work environment. I love my store, co-workers, and customers. I could not have done it without them. I am excited about my future here. Pros experience, people, lumber camp, benefits, forklifts and bonuses.
Would you recommend working at your company? Help people considering your employer make a good choice. I started as an MT at one location and moved into a Co Manager position within a year at another. Your experience is completely based on the quality of your manager. Terrible work life balance, you will be here more than you're home.
Decent pay with bonuses, if you're not hitting it's not worth the hours. Very sloppy. Only care for themselves. Manager just sat in the office and did nothing to help me learn. Look elsewhere. If you have experience it's overlooked you start at a fixed rate and are a glorified warehouse clerk with a false salesman tag.
They credit sales to whoever is at the counter when people come in to purchase lumber. The Co-manager your boss competes with you for sales. Any busy periods of the day morning you can be sent on tasks to keep you away from customers.
Toxic environment. Pros None. Cons No paid breaks poor pay poor management. Decent place to work. Some room for advancement depending on your job. Management was ok. Seemed disorganized a lot.
Pay was not great but work was not too difficult. Opportunities for bonuses in the position. Pros Laid back. Cons Disorganized. Get your stuff done, work overtime no matter what, and maybe you will see pay progress Door Builder Current Employee - Tavares, FL - September 16, They lied my entire interview. Saying 40 hours a week no overtime no weekend. But since I started working here I have never had a week under Cons Everything is exhausting.
Physically and mentally. Jobs at 84 Lumber Company. Multifamily Superintendent. Pros great customers. Cons sales. Job is for someone out of high school. No room for advancement. They like to pay you the minimum and expect you to work until you can't work anymore. Wouldn't recommend. Pros Easy job. Cons No room for growth.
Expected more. For a company that does billions of dollars in sales, the position and lack of resources was very underwhelming. You will spend most of your time working in AutoCAD drawing lines or filling out applications for cities and jurisdiction.
